US Tariffs Updates and FAQ
What’s changing?
From 29th August 2025, the US will end its de minimis rule for imports. This means tariffs will be applied to all parcels entering the US. For my shop, the tariff rate is expected to be around 10%.
How will this affect my current outstanding order, or if I order before 29th August?
I'm working on shipping all orders as quickly as possible so they clear customs before the change. Orders shipped shortly before or after the 29th will be subject to tariffs so there may be a short pause in orders just before 29 Aug to avoid delays or unexpected fees. I will make sure to give as much warning as I can if this will be the case.
How will this affect ongoing future orders?
I’ve set up a pre-paid tariff system so you won’t need to pay anything extra when your order arrives. This means:
-
No surprise customs bills
-
No delays while your parcel is held at customs
-
Everything handled at checkout
Will shipping cost more?
Yes — but only slightly. My current Royal Mail service can’t pre-pay tariffs, so I’m switching to a new shipping provider who can. Pre-paying is the key to getting your parcels to you quickly and without unexpected charges. The small price increase includes an upgrade to full end-to-end tracking, and it’s still cheaper than my previous tracked shipping option.
Will I see the tariff at checkout?
Soon! The tariffs will only take effect on parcels reaching US customs on or after 29th August - but once it’s live, you’ll see the tariff amount clearly at checkout so it’s completely transparent and accurate, based on your order value rather than being added speculatively to my prices or shipping costs.
What if the rules change again?
If the US changes the start date or the tariff rate, I’ll adjust right away. For any orders where the tariff was charged but turns out not to be needed, I’ll refund the tariff amount in full.
Do I need to do anything?
Nope! Just order as normal — the tariff will be handled automatically in the background.
Why is this happening?
This is a US government policy change, not something I control. My job is to make it as smooth as possible for you — and I’ll keep monitoring things so we can adapt if needed.
